If I had a million dollars..
B.B. King & Lucille
85 years old and still performing 300 nights a year. I have seen B.B. King several times and never been disappointed. Even at 85 he is still entertaining and a true Gentleman on stage.
I had the pleasure of seeing him last night in Vancouver, B.C.
The Lucille saga begins with her in the winter of 1949, when King – who turned 85 on Sept. 16, 2010 – was playing a Twist, Arkansas dance. A fight broke out and the burning barrel of kerosene that was used to heat the room spilled, spreading its flaming contents. Panic ensued as the fire began to cover the floor. Everybody, including King, fled. Once outside, he realized he’d left his prized guitar, a $30 Gibson acoustic, and returned to retrieve it.
The next day King learned two people had died in the blaze, and that the fight triggering the conflagration was over a woman named Lucille. He renamed his Gibson after her that day, as a reminder to never do anything as stupid as fight over a woman or enter a burning building again.

I've been floored!
I'm so excited! The floor is finished, except for a couple of coats of floor finish after the rest of the construction is finished. This should be the end of the dust storm that has been happening in the house. These photo's don't do the color justice, it is much more even and deeper than these look. The square are cut at 3' centers and are grouted in. I am so excited, now I can clean the windows as I wait for the cabinets to be painted and then installed.

Kitchen Ceiling Update
Here is the ceiling ready for lights and speakers to be installed, wall color should be going up today as well!
This part of the project was very time consuming, it always seemed like there was one more layer of trim to go up be fore everything could be painted. But what a difference when it was done.

It's inevitable, the rain is coming and it will be here for months. Time to get out the rain wear.

Laundry Room Dilemma
http://www.levistrauss.com/blogs/clothes-dryers-beware
I have been looking for a better solution for air drying clothes in my "smaller than I really wanted, but sacrificed space for the kitchen" laundry-room. Here are some of the ideas I am looking at. Who knew there were so many different ideas to choose from?

The Last Days of Summer
Well, I guess it was inevitable, as all good things must come to an end. Here we are going into the last week of summer 2010. I'm going to miss it. How about you? Did you enjoy this summer?

Blackberry Martini's
I have black berries growing wild on the side of the house, so I went to www.grouprecipes.com and found this great recipe for martini's. They looked just like the picture above and tasted lovely.
How to make it
3 oz vodka
- 3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
- 1/4 oz blackberry syrup, chilled
- blackberries sugared
- **For the sugared blackberry garnish, toss fresh blackberries with freshly squeezed lemon juice, then spear on a toothpick and roll in superfine sugar.**
How to make it
- Shake vodka and bitters with ice.
- Strain into a cocktail glass.
- Add syrup, which will pool in the bottom of the glass.
- Garnish with sugared blackberries.

Remember Summer break when you were a kid?
Remember how long summer break seemed to last when you were in school? It seemed to take forever to get there, but it lasted so long. The days seemed to go on forever with time to do everything you wanted, with time left over to be bored...I'm missing that right now. How about you?

Bathroom Vanity Decision Time
I'm thinking about this vanity from Pottery Barn for the bathroom, I like the idea of baskets underneth for pool towels. Easy to find and it adds a bit of texture rather than just cabinet doors and drawers. Not sure about the color, if I should get white or a darker color.
or
I was also looking at this one, from Restoration Hardware. I like the slates on the bottom, and I like the color, but I think it doesn't suit the house as much, hard to find exactly the right thing for a 100 year old house. Maybe I should explore the possibility of having one made, combining the elements from both that I like. Any suggestions?

Buddy Holly
What a terrifically entertaining performance!
We arrived a bit early and had dinner at the Red Door, really great place.
I just love going to Vancouver when ever I get a chance, and this long weekend was the perfect chance.
Now I'm home and still plugging away with the kitchen reno!
Have a great weekend.

Hide and Seek Storage
While looking for storage ideas for my kitchen, I came across some interesting storage solutions
I love this coffee table. Here is a video on how it works. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/look/play-coffee-table-16-hidden-storage-boxes-044714
Great ideas for a guest bed that doesn't take up space when not needed.
